This wrench is believed to be possibly English. Sometimes it is called a fish-belly wrench and it is rather rare, at least in the USA. A similar wrench was found that was made by the King Dick Co. (British) but it did not have the tang and was not Ford.
Several people have responded with information about this wrench. We have found several who have this wrench and there are several variations as well. Some are marked English made and we believe were made by the King Dick Co.. Some have no markings and variations include no crescent milled in the head over the shaft and the slot not being milled out clear to the end.
One gentleman purchased his wrench from a widow who said her husband had made the wrench in the 1930’s while working for Ford in their apprentice training school that they had during that period to train young men in skills that could be used in the factories. It is speculation on my part but it is possible that King Dick supplied the bare castings to Ford to use in the school as the wrench is made from castings.
